After a professional saddle bronc riding career of 16 years, Mugs decided to train

horses. He worked and learned while at Larry Mahan's for 18 months. Then in 1992,

Merlon and his family moved back to South Dakota to begin his horse training business.

Over the past ten years, Merlon has learned through experience and gained knowledge

from other trainers to improve his skills. Merlon especially likes training and showing

Aged Event horses with some weekend showing.

Fairbanks Cutting Horses, a family operation, is located one mile south of Burke.
